About Longview, Washington

Longview is a city in Cowlitz County, Washington, with a population of 37,818 at the 2020 census, up from 36,648 recorded in the 2010 census. The city sits at the junction of the Cowlitz and Columbia rivers in southwestern Washington, approximately 45 miles north of Portland, Oregon and 50 miles south of Olympia. It is the largest and most populous city in Cowlitz County and shares a border with Kelso to the east.

Longview holds a unique place in American history as one of the only cities ever planned and built entirely with private funds before construction began. Lumber magnate Robert A. Long of the Long-Bell Lumber Company purchased timberland in Cowlitz County in 1918 and by 1921 had commissioned city planner George Kessler to design a complete city to house the 14,000 workers needed to run his mills. The city was officially incorporated on February 14, 1924 and takes its name from Long’s Missouri estate, Longview Farm.

One of Longview’s most beloved landmarks is Lake Sacajawea, a scenic park and waterway maintained by the city’s Parks and Recreation department and widely considered the crown jewel of the community. The Columbia Theatre, opened on April 4, 1925, is another enduring piece of the city’s history and continues to serve as a cultural anchor in downtown Longview today.

Frequently Asked Questions

The most frequent repairs we handle are spring replacements, opener malfunctions, panel damage, and doors that have come off their tracks. These issues are common with regular use and are best addressed as soon as they come up to avoid further damage.

If your door feels unusually heavy, moves unevenly, or will not open at all, a broken or worn spring is likely the cause. Springs should always be inspected and replaced by a trained technician due to the high tension they carry.

A minor issue like a worn spring or misaligned track can quickly develop into a larger and more costly problem if ignored. Taking care of repairs early protects the lifespan of your entire door system and keeps your home secure.

In many cases, yes. If the damage is limited to one or a few panels, we can repair or replace just those sections without touching the rest of the door.

A standard visit covers a full inspection, lubrication of moving parts, hardware tightening, balance testing, and safety checks. Our technicians make sure every component is operating the way it should before leaving the job.

If your door is frequently breaking down, has significant structural damage, or the cost of repairs is approaching the price of a new door, replacement is usually the smarter investment. Our team will give you an honest assessment so you can make the best decision for your home.

Yes. Many garage door problems develop gradually and show no obvious signs until something fails. A yearly tune-up helps catch worn components early and keeps your door running safely and efficiently.

Do not attempt to force it back into place, as a door off its tracks can be dangerous to handle without the right tools and training. Call a technician right away to safely realign the door and inspect for any underlying damage.
